BREAK ( THE SKIP HABIT ) FAST..

A post after a long time. And the first since I joined the BIG BLUE.. . A big dream come true. Even I m a software engineer. Oh! Just another softie (not the cone, it’s the lingo to call softies so here) in Bangalore.

There are a lot of accolades a softie enjoys. A big pay, numerous credit card offers (;-)), Unlimited coffee, a lot of babes as colleagues, and finally the big thing – a trump card in a matrimonial page. Say a software engineer pocketing 30,000 a month and you can get have the planets positioned in your desired boxes in the “jyathagam”. I don’t know why, but every time I login to yahoo I see an ad from shaadi.com. Now put aside all these and you can easily also wring out a good number of happy moments missing. A date on a weekday evening at five. Oh come on you are kidding... It’s not probable. Missing the traffic in bang lore on the way to office. NEVER possible. Having breakfast. Never happens. And you work for hectic and strenuous five days that you just long for rest during the weekend. (read also a good lunch)

Now read again the last few lines of the above paragraph and you ll notice I had just put “never happens” for breakfast. Ya it never happens. Most people wake up late and take lunch directly. More severity in case of people working in the afternoon shifts. Thank God! I m in the morning shift and my day starts at 5.45 in the morning. Now why don’t people have breakfast properly? What’s the complaint? YOU can guess it right and the answer is “I don have time buddy” and compliment it with “nothing ll happen”. All people with the second excuse – here is the word. Some thing does happen. Ur health ll get to bad shape. Promised!!!

As the word breakfast is coined, it’s pretty normal to say you are taking food after a long time. Say ten to twelve hours on an average. But this time interval widens in case you skip breakfast. Not much of a problem when you are asleep. But once you are awake, you can start sensing acids in ur stomach. YOU directly take lunch.

All in a nutshell – people skipping breakfast are inviting ULCER.

One another worst thing about skipping the breakfast is that you are dull in the morning since you lack the energy to think and code but you end up just sitting in front of the comp doing noting productive.(read open e-mail, orkut and messenger). And this unproductive time awaits the bell ring for lunch. (read orkut and messenger continued…). The biggest hurdle is this. After a dull and unproductive morning (read also empty stomach) you take a heavy lunch (read unlimited meals) and now the post trauma continues... its takes an hour or more to raise ur energy and spirit levels to work and code. (read after lunch - one more hour orkut and messenger). And when ur spirit levels are high enough you find its just an hour away from close time. A whole day (just another) day wasted in the office.

During school we properly had our breakfast, and having come to the so called teen age, we start skimping breakfast ad finally end up skipping breakfast. Notin happens to us even if we don take breakfast. True? Yes and no. when we are in out teens we are in the acme of ur health. Ever heard of a child falling sick (read act fever and take leave to school) often? Yes, so many. Ever heard of an old man complaining of ill health? Yes a higher percentage than young people. Now the big question. Have you ever seen a teen fall sick often? A BIG NO. Why? This is because we are in our acme of our health. Noting happens now. But it all happens a few years later. Now our body persists the empty stomach and suffers ten years down the line.

After all it’s more of a bad habit. In contrast the breakfast is the lightest and the heaviest meal of the day. Lightest in terms of quantity and heaviest in terms of priority and importance. I haven’t seen any body take breakfast more than ten min. its just another bad habit. How nice does it sound to get up ten minutes earlier everyday to take breakfast and lead a healthy life?

Go break the habit today!!!!
